Our overriding aims are to provide all clients with the right barrister and to ensure excellence in all aspects of our service delivery. We are committed to being open and honest with solicitors about bookings, and we aim to keep any changes in Counsel to a minimum.
1 Garden Court's clerking is overseen by our Senior Clerk, Howard Rayner. Howard has been with Chambers since 1990 and was promoted to Senior Clerk in July 1997. Howard has operational responsibility for clerking including client management, the negotiation of fees, the clerking of all members of Chambers and the development of clerking procedures.
Chambers has a Business Review Team to co-ordinate further improvement of our service to clients and barristers alike. Howard is joined on this team by Shona Kelly (Chambers Manager), Chris Ferrison (Senior Clerking Manager), Anne Harvey (Assistant Chambers Manager) and our two Clerking Managers. The Clerking Managers' specific duties include management of the diary, preparation of fee notes and supervision of junior clerks. Shona oversees all operational and organisational aspects of Chambers; Chris deputises for Howard in the operation of the Clerks' Room and has a lead role in Family Graduated Fees and High Cost case processes; Anne manages general administration and co-ordinates our marketing activities.
Howard also supports the service offered by Chambers by developing feedback opportunities for our clients and by operating a system of Individual Practice Development for members.
