Practice Profile

Janet has expertise across a broad spectrum of family law. Her practice encompasses private and public law children work, as well as family finance work (including cohabitation matters and pre-nuptial agreements) and cases proceeding in the Court of Protection. Children work includes internal and external relocation applications and Janet also advises in relation to financial disputes proceeding in other common law jurisdictions. She occasionally conducts financial mediations in Jersey. Janet is a dedicated advocate, who has achieved particular recognition for her cross-examination skills and for cases involving complex medical issues. Janet is recognised as a Leading Silk by both Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500. Under the leadership of Janet and her co-head of Chambers, 1 Garden Court recently won the accolade of Family Law Set of the Year. Janet is also a case reviewer for the Bar Pro Bono Unit.

Personal, including interests

Janet is an inveterate traveller who enjoys exploring new and more familiar places and cultures. She has a good grasp of French, German and Italian and is fairly fluent in Modern Greek. Janet has a love of music and enjoys concerts, opera and playing the piano. Not a great lover of exercise, Janet nevertheless enjoys hill walking and swimming in a warm sea. Janet is married with 3 children.
