Richard practises in mainly matrimonial finance, cohabitation disputes and private law children. He also has expertise in handling Inheritance Act claims.
Richard’s recent entry into Chambers and Partners 2013 describes him as offering "reliable and sensible advice" and is "approachable and always willing to help." Sources praise Richard for the quality of his cross-examinations.
He represents clients in mediation of TOLATA and Inheritance Act claims and is able to advise on property and finance matters under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Richard has experience of acting for parties in all tiers of court including the Court of Appeal. He is particularly experienced in cases involving the valuations of businesses and pensions disputes between spouses and regularly represents interveners on family finance applications.
Richard’s expertise in international and private law concerning children includes acting for parents in complicated leave to remove cases and he has regularly appeared at fact finding hearings involving allegations of domestic violence, sexual abuse and illegal substance or alcohol abuse.

Richard is a regular contributor to Butterworths Civil Court Precedents. Richard also wrote the chapter on Enforcement Applications under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989 for Family Law published in 2010.
Seminars and Lectures
Richard is frequently asked to speak at specialist seminars on his areas of expertise for Jordans, CLT and Young Resolution. He is happy to organise seminars for firms at their offices.
He has also chaired seminars on financial remedies and on private law children and previously delivered talks via podcasts for professional development training for solicitors.

Personal, including interests Richard is an accomplished pianist and drummer who enjoys both playing and listening to music. He is a keen reader with a particular interest in the history of London. He has travelled widely and enjoys experiencing different cultures and their varied cuisines.
