Court of Protection Team
The turnover of work in the Court of Protection has increased enormously since the Court assumed its welfare jurisdiction in October 2007, and we have established a Court of Protection Team in response to a significant volume of instructions coming into chambers.
Members of chambers appear regularly in the Court of Protection, instructed by local authorities, family members and the Official Solicitor. Much of our work is at the Court of Protection in Archway or at the Royal Courts of Justice before judges of the Family Division. In addition, we regularly travel to regional court centres where Family Division judges sit on circuit, and where local circuit and district judges hear Court of Protection work. In recent months we have dealt with cases in Birmingham, Newcastle, Cardiff and Bristol.
We recognise that all welfare disputes in the Court of Protection are highly sensitive family matters, and we bring to bear our experience and expertise in difficult family cases in the care and private law jurisdictions.
If you would like an informal discussion about your case, please speak to our clerks Howard Rayner, Paul Harris, Danny Chapman or Gary Freeborn who will be happy to assist.
The Court of Protection team is convened by Malcolm Chisholm.
